EXTERIOR DESIGN.
With its dynamic, upright proportions, the third-generation BMW X5 is instantly recognisable as a BMW X model. However, it also has several new design features which further emphasise its majestic appearance and unbeatable versatility.
One important element of the optimised design is the focus on aerodynamics. Thanks to eye-catching elements in the front end, at the rear and on the sides, form and function are combined ideally: large air inlets, the Air Curtain in the front apron and the newly developed Air Breather in the front wheel arches underline the sporty character of the BMW X5 – and, at the same time, help to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The aerodynamic shape continues at the rear. The Air Blade on the D-pillar not only makes the car look wider, but also improves airflow.
At the front, the flat, wide design of the BMW kidney grille gives the BMW X5 and an imposing athletic presence. The kidney grille and the headlights are ‘combined’ with each other, creating the impression of an all-in-one unit and emphasising the vehicle’s wide track. At the same time, the short distance between the A-pillar and the front axle shifts the visual focus of the car further forwards, thus highlighting the all-wheel drive.

Elegant feel-good atmosphere
While the bodywork of the BMW X5 is characterised by an imposing presence, the interior is dominated by a striking elegance. The horizontal contours and contrating surfaces heighten the feeling of space. Top-quality materials and interior surfaces, combined with a large selection of upholsteries and colours as well as atmospheric lighting, create an unrivalled feel-good factor.
Clear cockpit design
Clarity also plays a major role inside the BMW X5. The elevated, BMW X typical seating position ensures the best possible view of the road ahead. All operating elements, including the new iDrive Touch Controller with the optional Navigation system Professional and the new free-standing Control Display, are orientated towards the driver. An interior mirror with automatic anti-glare function as standard ensures even more safety and comfort.
AMBIENCE.
As soon as you take a seat in the BMW X5, one thing is clear immediately: Genuine perfection is demonstrated by the sum of all details. The spacious, luxurious interior is characterised by specially selected, perfectly crafted materials of the very highest quality.
Fine leather meets elegant decor – which, together with the individual illumination possibilities provided by the optional lighting package with ambient light designs, creates a highly exclusive atmosphere.
Electrically adjustable comfort seats for the driver and front-seat passenger help to ensure relaxed, fatigue-free driving and are available as an option. The top-quality free-standing Control Display and the optional Bang & Olufsen high-end surround sound system with excellent acoustics make a journey in the BMW X5 a treat for all the senses.
LIGHT DESIGN.
The Lights package includes numerous LED lights and lends the interior an elegant ambience that invites passengers to relax. The "welcome" lights create a carpet of light in front of the vehicle, welcoming the driver.
Ambient light underlines the lounge-style atmosphere of the interior. Nine predefined light designs in blue, white and orange fill the interior with a soothingly relaxing mixture of indirect and direct light sources. The additional light sources of the Ambient lighting are found on the trim, in the front and rear footwells and in all of the door compartments and panels, among other places. Practical reading lights are installed in the rear. Additional LED lights on the exterior offer additional everyday convenience, such as the LED vicinity lighting in the door handles that is activated upon entering and exiting.
ADAPTIVE LED HEADLIGHTS.
The colour of the light produced by Adaptive LED Headlights is similar to daylight, and they adjust their light distribution automatically depending on the vehicle's speed and steering angle.
The Adaptive LED Headlights comprise an accent light, LED light rings, lowbeam function, BMW Selective Beam (anti-dazzle high-beam function), LED fog lights, cornering lights, turn indicators, daytime running lights and Adaptive Headlights with variable light control. All functions are in LED technology, without exception.
The light distribution is automatically adapted to match the speed and the steering angle. The particularly bright light is similar to daylight and optimally and evenly illuminates the road, which improves visibility and makes driving less tiring. The four LED light rings lend a distinctive appearance, even during the day.
